Zoho has many good attributes; it alolws students to use a program similar to that of Microsoft Word. Zoho is free and because of this it does not include the professionalism that Microsoft Word incorporates, but many options are available if you wish to utilized these tools. Zoho would greatly benefit a class because it does not require students to purchase programs for assignments that would be completed at home. Unfortunately, Zoho does not include many features on their program because it is meant to serve as a basic writing document. Another favorable characteristic of Zoho is that it is very easy to navigate and find what you are looking for. Although I prefer Microsoft Word, I think Zoho would greatly impact a class because it gives students easy access and understanding to an online typing resource that alolws blogging and group work. This would help students tremendously in a class because it would allow the teacher to broaden the types of assignments given to students.

HostServ is a service that allows users to hide their hostmask (i.e., xertion-6mau9k.fl.comcast.net) with something creative (i.e., i.am.the.doctor). The nickname must be registered in order to request a vHost.

Commands

Request vHost

To request a vHost from HostServ, use the REQUEST command: /msg HostServ REQUEST your.vhost.here - replacing "your.vhost.here" with the custom vHost you want.

Using the REQUEST command sends it to Xertion Staff for manual approval. The vHost must meet the requirements described on the VHost page.

Turning your vHost on and off

Once Xertion Staff has approved your requested vHost, the system turns it on automatically for you. But if for some reason it does not, you can turn it on manually by typing /msg HostServ ON.

If, for some reason, you wish to turn your vHost off, you can do so by typing /msg HostServ OFF.

Grouping vHosts

To sync your CURRENT nickname's vHost to all nicknames in your group, you can type /msg HostServ GROUP. Before using this command, please be sure you are using the nickname whose vHost is to be set for all other nicknames grouped to it.
