Services
NickServ
- Main article: NickServ
NickServ allows you to register a nickname and prevent others from using it. The commands sent to this service allow for registration and maintenance of nicknames.
ChanServ
- Main article: ChanServ
ChanServ allows you to register and control various aspects of channels. ChanServ can often prevent malicious users from "taking over" channels by limiting who is allowed channel operator privileges.
MemoServ
- Main article: MemoServ
MemoServ is a utility allowing IRC users to send short messages to other IRC users, whether they are online at the time or not, or to channels(*). Both the sender's nickname and the target nickname or channel must be registered in order to send a memo.
HostServ
- Main article: HostServ
HostServ is a service that allows users to hide their hostmask (i.e., xertion-6mau9k.fl.comcast.net) with something creative (i.e., i.am.the.doctor). The nickname must be registered in order to request a vHost.
- Note: vHost is approved by Xertion Staff and must meet requirements described at VHost
BotServ
- Main article: BotServ
BotServ is the service that maintains custom services' bots for channels. It provides a basic framework for setting up a custom basic bot for users who can't make their own, can't host their own, or just simply prefer the convenience of having a services-controlled bot. BotServ bots will sit indefinitely in their assigned channels even if they are otherwise empty, so they can be used to keep channels open.
DenServ [DEFUNCT]
- Main article: DenServ
DenServ was a Xertion network stats bot that logged channels and updated that data every 24 hours. It no longer exists, as it has been superseded by Anope 2.0's stats functionality.
